That's Ridiculous!

1. The belief that God created the heavens and the earth is ridiculous and a fairy tale.

The belief that the world, as complex as it is, could have developed without God is even more ridiculous. If I were to tell you that my wrist watch evolved into a working watch with gears, a leather band and hands that rotate to keep time, if I were to tell you that it developed on its own over millions of years you would think that I was a nut. Why then would you believe that a human being, who is a billion times more complex than a wrist watch could have evolved over millions of years without a Creator?

2. Evolution has been proven.

Actually, molecules to man evolution is a scientific hypothesis that has never been observed nor proven.

3. Has creation been proven?

Absolutely not! We cannot observe creation taking place and we cannot prove that it happened. If it did happen, it took place in the past and we weren't there to see it. But, evolution cannot be observed or proved either. The question is, which one makes more sense?

4. It makes more sense that there is no God and that evolution is true.

Actually, that makes no sense at all if you think about it. Intelligent scientists work very hard to create life in a laboratory but they are not able to do it without using life that already exists. No scientist has ever created life from nothing. If scientists cannot create life from nothing in a laboratory then how did we evolve from nothing without a Creator?

5. We didn't evolve from nothing. There was a big bang. There were molecules. There was a common ancestor behind the ape and man!

Really? Where did the molecules come from? Where did the components to make the big bang come from? Where did the common ancestor of ape and man come from? Every effect has a cause. That is a scientific law. If you will think about it, there had to be a first cause. If man came from molecules then something had to make the molecules.

6. I may accept the fact that God exists, but I will never accept the Bible's account of creation in Genesis. Six days is nonsense.

It is no more nonsense than any other belief. All belief, be it a belief in the Bible, belief in the Koran, or a belief in molecules to man evolution, is based on faith. Just examine the evidence and see what makes sense. If you accept the premise that God had to be involved somewhere in the creation of man, then that probably means that God has some interest in man, right?

7. I suppose, so what?

So, wouldn't it make sense that if God is interested in man, that He would try to communicate with man in some way? Wouldn't a book be a good way for God to do that, seeing that writing has been around for thousands of years?

8. I do not believe that God writes books, nor do I believe that the person or people who wrote the Bible were inspired by God.

Then how do you believe that God communicates with His creation? Does He speak to people? If He spoke to you, wouldn't it be awfully hard to prove to others that He had? Wouldn't they just think that you were crazy?

9. Some would; some wouldn't I suppose. It would be hard to prove that God was telling you things if no one else could hear His voice though.

Exactly. Wouldn't it be easier and more logical to put everything in a book? A book can be read and researched to see if the things in it make sense and are true.

10. But, if one person wrote a book it could just be nonsense. Anyone can claim that God told them to write something.

Right, but what if 40 different people wrote a book over a period of thousands of years and all of their writings fit together perfectly to tell one story. These writers all came from different backgrounds. Some were great leaders. Some were kings. Some were prophets. One was a doctor. One was a former tax collector. Several were professional fishermen. One was a religious leader who hated Christians so badly that he had them hunted down, imprisoned and killed. Yet he became a Christian and wrote much of the New Testament. What if all of their writings agreed to tell the story of one man who changed the world?

11. Who would that be?

Jesus Christ.

12. That would be truly amazing.

Those are my thoughts exactly.

DON'T BELIEVE THAT EVERYTHING YOU HEAR IS TRUE JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE TELL YOU THAT IT IS. EXAMINE THE EVIDENCE!
